Santa Barbara Monorail

Beginning at a monorail station near the existing and historic Union Pacific train station, located three blocks inland from the Santa Barbara Pier and popular sandy beaches, the American Monorail-proposed Santa Barbara Monorail would serve passengers at a station in the center of the numerous seaside resorts lining the city’s best and most extensive beaches before entering the center median of US Highway 101 through Montecito, then skirting the coastline on the inland side of the railroad right of way just inland of beaches along coastal bluffs until reaching a station at the Ventura Fairgrounds, where the guide way begins to travel inland toward stations that serve the growing suburban communities of eastern Ventura County.

The Camarillo monorail station lies near the midpoint of the Santa Barbara-Los Angeles route, and at the beginning of the 54-mile commuter express portion of the route serving stations and commuters from Ventura County across the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, with a final destination in downtown Los Angeles, completing the 98-mile route.
